Background
Swami Vivek Bharti was born on April 19, 1958, in a simple farmer's family in the village of Kanwali, Rewari district (Haryana). In his childhood, Swami Vivek Bharti was named Ram Niwas Yadav. Due to his religious nature, he would observe a fast every Tuesday and worship Hanuman Ji before eating. He completed his education up to the tenth grade in his village and then passed the B.A. examination from Ahir College, Rewari, in 1978. After that, he passed the M.A. examination in Geography with first class from D.A.V. College, Ajmer. During this time, he read the life of Swami Vivekananda in the Dayanand College library. This inspired a great thought in his life that he wanted to live a life like Vivekananda. He felt that to become like Vivekananda, it was essential to have a great guru, and thus the search for a guru became necessary. After completing his M.A., he should have returned home, but instead, he stayed in Ajmer for three more years and began rigorous spiritual practices. From 9 AM to 5 PM every day, he spent eight hours in the library reading autobiographies of great personalities and in the evenings, he roamed the Nag mountains. He began worshiping Kali Ma to find his Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and visited the Kali temple on Fivesagar Road in Ajmer every Ashtami, Navami, and Chaudas for worship. Though the temple was not in good condition at that time, there was an old priest who gave some ashes (bhabhoot) and sugar crystals as prasad, which became his food for 24 hours. He spent hours crying in the Nag mountains, asking God when he would meet his Guru. Finally, after three years, that day came. On July 21, 1984, in the first meeting, his Guru said that he had been waiting for him for 21 years. This meeting was so miraculous that its description can be read in his autobiography, "Journey of Existence." The first meeting with his Guru shook his mind and consciousness. On the same day, he gave up his Ph.D. in Geography, which he was pursuing at JNU. After a few years, he got a government job at Palhawas School, and two months later, he was transferred to Hasanpur School in Narnaul. There, he performed rigorous spiritual practices for nine months at Chyawan Rishi Dhosa Hill, which later became his great workplace. In 1985, he was appointed to Daulatpur School in the Directorate of Education, Delhi. He spent his days fulfilling his duties as a teacher and his evenings visiting various villages, teaching poor children, and cleaning village streets. This interest led to the establishment of the Vivekananda Ashram Shikarpur Orphanage in 1988 on five acres of land received from the village panchayat, where orphaned children reside today. On March 20, 1994, in the presence of his Gurus Harprasad Mishra and Mahindra Mishra, a grand event was organized to install a statue of Vivekananda. As he continued to progress in his spiritual practices, a procession of Vivekananda's tableaux was taken out in 25 villages over five days (Najafgarh block), and on July 4, 2002, a centenary celebration was organized to mark the 100th anniversary of Swamiji's nirvana, attended by thousands of people. The main guests were Dr. Narendra Kohli, Dr. Jagmohan, and Guru Harprasad Mishra. During this period, he wrote his autobiography, "Journey of Existence," which was released in a grand ceremony on October 24, 2010. After the book's release, he constantly thought about visiting the Vivekananda Memorial at Kanyakumari. Despite financial constraints, he, along with his family, reached Vivekananda Rock on January 5, 2010, and due to these extraordinary events, Vivekananda Shaktipeeth was born. All these events had been indicated by his Guru back in 1991.
